Although he initially aspired to establish himself in Mumbai as a lyricist, he opted to enter public service after securing second place in the 2004 PGT examination Uttrarpradesh. Today, he serves as the Head of the Arts Department at Hiralal Barah Saini Inter College, Aligarh.

Nicknamed the “Son of Saraswati,” Dr. Avnish Rahi was bequeathed the gift of poetry and music from his father. By age 15, he had already published his first book, “Bhakton Ki Pukaar,” and by 17, his first audio music album, “Kaali Chunari,” was released. Since then, he has written for leading music labels like Tips, Venus, Lara, T-Series, and others, with renowned playback singers like Udit Narayan, Kumar Sanu, Sadhana Sargam, and many more lending their voices to his songs.

With a prolific literary career, Dr. Avnish Rahi has penned over a dozen books, including “Kalam Ki Vedna,” “Un Dino (1992),” “Bhakton Ki Pukaar,” and “Zakhmi Kalam-Siskate Nagme.” His works touch on a variety of themes, from devotion to social issues, reflecting his deep connection to cultural roots.

His talent extends beyond literature to the realm of cinema. He has written songs for Hindi films such as “Dream City Mumbai,” “Dance Is King,” “Mission Over,” and “Rashtra Mata Savitribai,” Pyaar to hamesha rahega.” His international influence is also seen in the extensive list of over 100 audio and video albums, including “Dil-E-Nadaan Maane Na,” “Main Hoon Tera Deewana,” and “Mahakarunik Da Lord Buddha,” to name just a few.

In a unique collaboration with his father, poet Amar Singh Rahi, Dr. Avnish Rahi co-authored the epic “Bheemcharit Manas,” a monumental work spanning 530 pages and composed in traditional styles such as Doha, Chaupai, and Savaiya. This magnum opus, published by Samyak Prakashan New Delhi, was unveiled by the esteemed Vice President of India, Dr. Hamid Ansari.

Their joint effort continued with “Buddh Gyaan Mahasagar,” a deeply evocative narrative on the life and teachings of Gautam Buddha. This work, which includes nearly 800 Dohas, was unveiled by then-Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh.

Upcoming is “Kanshiram Charitmanas,” another collaborative masterpiece based on the life and struggles of Kanshiram, which is set for release soon.

Accolades and Recognition

A member of the Film and Screen Writers Association, Mumbai (WFA) since 2001, Dr. Avnish Rahi has been honored with numerous prestigious awards and recognitions. He has been conferred titles such as “Saraswati Putra,” “Aligarh Ratna,” “Sahitya Gaurav,” “Dr. Ambedkar Ratna,” and “Lifetime Achievement Award.” One of his most notable honors includes receiving the “Gold Medal Award” from the hands of then-Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit at TalKatora Stadium.

Additionally, for his contribution to literature, culture, and the arts, Dr. Avnish Rahi was awarded the “Vidya Vachaspati Doctorate” in 2024 by Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hindi Vidyapeeth, recognizing his immense contribution to these fields over a 40-year career.
