About the Author

Samantha Patil is a six-year-old young author who loves reading, writing short stories and exploring her imagination. Her interest in storytelling began when she was around four or five years old, when she would scribble little stories and ideas simply for the joy of creating them.

An enthusiastic reader, Samantha finds inspiration in the books she discovers. One of her favourite books is Poppy and Sam from Usborne’s Farmyard Tales series. She enjoys exploring different kinds of books and believes that reading stories outside one’s usual interests can open the door to new ideas and imagination.

Beyond writing, Samantha is learning the Indian classical dance form Kathak, which she hopes to pursue professionally one day. She also enjoys playing basketball and believes in doing things that bring happiness.

Samantha particularly enjoys sharing stories with her sister, who has been an important part of her creative journey. Her sister, Saachi, affectionately known as “Sasa akka,” helped Samantha write her author page and also contributed to the cover and illustrations throughout the story.

Encouraging Children to Dream Big

At its heart, The Golden Flower carries a message that extends beyond its magical adventure. Samantha encourages children to stay focused, follow their dreams and never give up simply because they are young.

Her journey demonstrates how creativity can begin anywhere—a scribbled story, an idea shared with a sibling or an imaginary adventure created for fun can eventually become a published book.
