The teaser of ‘The Grand Old Man of Indian Textiles’ (Kapda Udyog Ke Bhishma Pitamah), an award-winning short documentary celebrating the extraordinary life and legacy of textile visionary Shri Shambhu Kumar Kasliwal, has been unveiled by filmmaker and producer Vidhi Kasliwal.

The documentary recently won the Best Short Documentary Film Award at the HOHE International Film Festival in Germany, marking a proud international recognition for its powerful storytelling and celebration of an inspiring Indian legacy.

Produced by Vidhi Kasliwal, directed by Yash Gaikwad, written and creatively directed by Gautam Pemmaraju and presented by Landmarc Films, this documentary traces the remarkable journey of the man whose vision and hard work helped make S.Kumars one of India’s most recognised textile names.

The teaser introduces audiences to a story woven from determination, enterprise, resilience and deeply held values. It offers an intimate glimpse into the life of Shri Shambhu Kumar Kasliwal and the principles that guided his journey from a young textile trader to one of the most looked up to figures in India’s textile industry.

Shri Shambhu Kumar Kasliwal along with his older brother was instrumental in establishing S.Kumars as a household name. He pioneered the introduction of affordable and durable polyester-blended fabrics in India, helping make quality textiles accessible to middle and lower-income households. His guiding philosophy was simple yet powerful—to offer the best possible quality at the lowest possible price.

For Vidhi Kasliwal, the documentary is also an intensely personal tribute to her grandfather and the lessons his life continues to offer.

“Making this documentary has been deeply personal for me. My grandfather’s journey was not merely about building a textile business. It was about integrity, courage, relationships and creating something that could become a part of people’s everyday lives. Through this film, we hope audiences discover the man behind this extraordinary Indian legacy,” says Vidhi Kasliwal.

Rather than presenting the story solely through the milestones of a successful enterprise, ‘The Grand Old Man of Indian Textiles’ explores the personal convictions, challenges and relationships that shaped Shri Shambhu Kumar Kasliwal’s journey. It presents the portrait of a man whose ambitions remained rooted in simplicity, ethics and a genuine desire to serve the Indian consumer.

Director Yash Gaikwad brings a restrained and intimate visual treatment to the documentary, while writer and creative-director Gautam Pemmaraju shapes the narrative around the man, his family and the enduring philosophy behind the textile institution.

With its evocative imagery and emotionally resonant storytelling, the teaser sets the stage for a documentary about much more than fabric or enterprise. It is the story of one man’s vision becoming interwoven with India’s social and industrial journey.

Presented by Landmarc Films, ‘The Grand Old Man of Indian Textiles’ is produced by Vidhi Kasliwal, directed by Yash Gaikwad, and written and creatively directed by Gautam Pemmaraju.
